The Crab Shack: Mantoloking Road in Brick, NJ

During the summer, Rex cooks a lot of seafood: clams, salmon, scallops, lobster...you name it and we get it from the Crab Shack. I may have mentioned that my girls are Jedi Clam Eaters, and we'll buy 100 littlenecks and topnecks. If Rex is cooking seafood at home in Bay Head, the Crab Shack is the only place we'll go for fresh seafood. Open all year round, the Crab Shack has a large variety of fresh seafood daily, including live and steamed crabs, homemade specialties and prepared seafood dishes. If you don't feel like cooking, you can eat there, inside in the fish market or outside in the sunshine.

Dennis Foy's Bay Point Prime -- Point Pleasant Beach, NJ

I'll have to wait until we get down to the beach in May to review Dennis Foy's Bay Point Prime, as we never know for sure whether Dennis and his wife will decide to show up.

July Update: I've posted several times about Dennis Foy's Bay Point Prime since this original short note, but I'm leaving this post here because it seems to be Google's favorite link. Just click the link within the post for a more recent review of one of our summer dinners at BayPoint Prime. Thanks!

Best of Bay Head, NJ

Bay Head seems so far away with wintry mix falling from the sky and about two months to go before we open our beach house, but over the next 6-8 weeks, I will post all of the good stuff the Roxiticus Desperate Housewives do for fun in Bay Head, NJ.

And maybe some photos, too. A long, long time ago (15 years maybe?) I saw this movie....I think it was called Smoke....and every day this guy comes out of his shop and takes a picture of the same scene. Of course, every day the photo is just a little bit different. Ever since then, I've wanted to do that, take the "same" picture every day. I started to do it one summer, but of course, unlike the guy in the movie, I'm never really in the same place 365 days in a row.

Best Places to Eat:
Dennis Foy's Bay Point Prime:
Shipwreck Grille (Brielle):

Kid Stuff:
Sarah's Kiddles in Pt. Pleasant Beach is one of our favorite kids' clothing stores.

Summer Camp: The Borough of Bay Head has a half-day (9-noon) summer camp for residents age 5 and up. Information is usually available from the Borough municipal office in mid-May. The web site doesn't look like it gets updated very often, so you're probably better off checking in by phone: 732 892-0636.
